The rules changed on July 1, 2026. New solar customers no longer bank surplus power as credit at the full retail rate. Power you send back to the grid now earns a flat 10¢/kWh, while power you use yourself saves 11.87–14.08¢. So we size your system to the power your household uses, not to fill the roof.
Systems start from $9,200 installed before the rebate. Most Westside family homes land between $13,800 and $24,000, less up to $5,000 back. Before you sign anything you get the system size, expected output, rebate and payback year in writing.

What a Home Installation Includes
Sizing for self-use
We size from twelve months of your BC Hydro bills. Under the 2026 self-generation rate, a kWh you use yourself is worth more than one you export, so the right system is often smaller than the roof allows.
Roof survey: planes, pitch, shade and age
Every usable plane is measured and shade-modelled through the day and the seasons. Hillside pines and neighbouring homes above you on the slope both count. We also note how many years the roof has left.
Panels, racking, inverter and monitoring
Tier-one all-black panels, racking rated for Westside snow and wind, and microinverters or optimisers where shade calls for them. App monitoring is standard, and every system is battery-ready.
Licensed electrical work
All wiring is done by licensed electricians. Older Westbank and Lakeview homes sometimes need a panel upgrade first, and we find that during the survey so it is in the quote.
BC Hydro paperwork, in the right order
The self-generation application has to be accepted before installation or the rebate is lost. We file it, then the permit, then the rebate claim, and follow each one up.

Under BC Hydro’s self-generation rate, which started July 1, 2026, surplus power is credited at 10¢/kWh each billing cycle. Power you use yourself avoids 11.87–14.08¢. The midday peak your panels produce is worth less if it all goes to the grid.

How a Home Install Runs
On-site work usually takes one to three days. BC Hydro acceptance and permits take longer than the install itself, so allow four to eight weeks from signing to switch-on.
Assessment
Twelve months of BC Hydro bills, your roof planes and shade, and your electrical panel. Most of it is done by phone and satellite imagery before anyone visits.
Design & quote
System size, expected output, your rebate, self-generation credit and payback year, in writing with the assumptions shown. Battery options priced alongside.
Paperwork, then install
BC Hydro accepts the self-generation application before we build, so the rebate is protected. Then our team and vetted contractor partners install, usually in one to three days.
Switch-on
Inspection, BC Hydro approval and commissioning. We show you the monitoring app and what your next bill should look like, then file the rebate.
